The Democratic Peoples' Party goals were consolidation of the Republic of Moldova as an independent, sovereign, integral and democratic state; edification of a civil society based on the principles of social solidarity and justice, where private property will be protected and equal chances will be provided to all the citizens.

The Democratic Peoples' Party took part in 1998 parliamentary elections and 1999, 2003 local elections.

On July 19, 2003 the III Congress of DPPM adopted the decision to join the Party "Moldova Noastra Alliance".
