Historic background

The Party of Civic Dignity of Moldova was established on May 29, 1999. The Founding Conference adopted the party program and bylaws. The Party pleaded for the consolidation of state independence and integrity; establishment of a true democratic society; rule of law state, where each citizen's dignity and freedoms are observed.

Party of Civic Dignity took part in 2001 early parliamentary elections, but failed to pass the electoral threshold.

The III Extraordinary Congress of the PDCM held on 27 September 2003, gathering 145 members, adopted the decision to suspend party activity and join Party of Communists of the Republic of Moldova.
